Shireen in New York

Director | Story Editor | Creative Producer | Adaptive Screenwriter

I tell stories about New York and Beirut.

I grew up in Lebanon and moved to the U.S on the anniversary of the Beirut Blast. Amid the personal and political challenges, I was awarded a presidential scholarship for my master’s at The New School. I’m now on the editorial staff of The New Yorker, Condé Nast; working on stories across politics, culture & arts, and profiles.

Though initially drawn to theatre, I found excitement on sets; overseeing projects from writing and directing to producing and editing. I’ve worked on The Voice with ITV. studios; made short films starring Nicole Ansari-Cox and Nada Abou Farhat in In The Night and Nothing Has Changed; and co-produced a feature Everything That Will Happen Has Already Happened. My work has been featured in Variety and other media outlets.

I’m particularly interested in people and places. Regardless of the medium — I want to tell stories that matter. For much of my career, I focused on themes that truly resonate with my cross-cultural experiences; such as city living & identity, relationships, trauma, and the passage of time.

I hold an MA in Media Studies from The New School and a BA in Film, Theatre & TV Studies from the Lebanese American University. I was involved in TNS community as an ambassador and a teaching assistant.
